We also enjoyed two very special treats at the February 13th general meeting: First, we delighted in the spectacular performances given by Alexandra Switala, violinist of Austin, our TexASTA Jr. Division solo winner, and Meta Weiss, cellist from Rice University, our Sr. Division solo winner. Thanks so much to them and their teachers for the beautiful music! Also, we were fortunate to witness internationally acclaimed UT Austin Emerita Professor and former ASTA President Phyllis Young present Henry Rubin with the Phyllis Young Outstanding Studio Teacher of the Year Award that was created in honor of Mrs. Young's outstanding legacy in string teaching.
